Stephanie Frisinger is a civil rights and criminal lawyer with a special interest in impact litigation that results in systemic change to the American carceral system. She also works on post-conviction and criminal appellate cases with a focus towards challenging confinement and sentencing practices.

Stephanie is originally from Colorado and attended college and law school in her home state. Stephanie received a prestigious Chancellor’s Scholarship to attend Sturm College of law, a full tuition scholarship afforded to students with a demonstrated history of excellence in academics and public service. Once in law school, Stephanie cultivated her passion for social justice law. She worked for two years as a student attorney in Sturm College of Law’s Civil Rights Clinic where she was part of a team of student attorneys that investigated and brought a lawsuit to challenge systemic disability discrimination in the Colorado Department of Corrections. That case settled, finally ensuring that Deaf and hard of hearing people are treated equally in Colorado’s prisons.

Stephanie also served on the board of her law school’s American Civil Liberties Union student organization, co-founded and served on the board of her law school’s Coalition for Criminal Justice Reform student organization, and completed over 600 hours of community service throughout law school.

Stephanie graduated from law school in the top seven percent of her class with a certificate in Constitutional Rights & Remedies and distinctions in Public Good and Anti-Racism Education.
